Why I Started This Blog

The adventure begins! Admittedly, it’s starting in a slightly slow and cheesy way, but here are my motivations for starting my blog.

For My Own Sanity

I am currently an English student, but an impending deadline of a June graduation is not far over the horizon. The idea of not having a creative outlet isn’t something that appeals to me, and, since the jobs market probably isn’t waiting patiently for my thoughts about which is the best brunch place in Cardiff, I thought I’d make my own space.

This Isn’t My First Rodeo

I’ve been writing and deleting frivolous attempts at blogs for several years. (Before I even settled on Wix, I tried Wordpress as an indicator of how indecisive I am) I think my first was some time around my thirteenth birthday when I was convinced I could pull an Ugly Betty and somehow be a fashion blogger and just roll up to London Fashion Week and be the next ‘it’ girl. Now I actually have a clear vision of what I enjoy and what I like writing about, so here we are.

Experience

There is something absolutely terrifying about chucking yourself into the world as a young adult in 2018. I am constantly asking myself what I want to do and I still don’t know. Grabbing at assorted pieces of work experience is only going to get me so far. I realised that if I can have creative control over what I put out there through this blog, I can at least get a little more experience in writing about what I like for an audience. Consider this a cautious toe dip into the world of writing/blogging.

My Interests

There is nothing groundbreaking about a 20 something white girl saying she enjoys travelling, in fact it probably brings to mind the ‘gap yah’ image complete with hundreds of pictures of the same view that only the photographer finds interesting. However, I’ve been privileged enough to have visited some beautiful parts of the world (and long may I continue to do so) which has made me constantly want to see and explore more and to share just a few of these places in my own words is really exciting for me.

I’ve put off making this proper blog about what I wanted for so long. Like I said, there’s nothing groundbreaking about someone enjoying travelling and the blogosphere (?) is definitely over saturated with the same stories about the same locations. However, there’s one slightly cheesy thing that studying English at university has instilled in me; everyone has a voice and everyone deserves to be heard, so I hope you enjoy listening to mine!
